Dive into Design & Inspiration with Stine
Our Co-Founder's Journey from Inspiration to Innovation!
Here at Good Change one of our core principles is great design.

What were the key design elements for Good Change
When designing our Good Change products, our personal taste is definitely the key driver.
Having things that both look good and serves a purpose gets me really excited and what I always go for personally when I chose things for my home.
So imagine how excited Kristy and I were when we launched and, in addition to reducing plastic, got to replace bright pinks and yellows on display in peoples homes all around the country, with a product that actually fits their beautiful kitchen and home choices in general.
Life gets busy and cleaning is something we all need to do, from wiping tables after breakfast to doing dishes at night. So the cloth is often lying on the table and if it’s a smelly synthetic cloth, it’s most likely not a fair representation of the people living in that home.
I fully believe that all items you have are choices you’ve made. So it’s really a reflection of who you are.
Making good choices from you deciding to support the planet to having an item that just makes you happy to look at is a great way to get your personality into your home.
The final element in our design phase, and the core of our being, is the materials the products are made from. We are very selective on what gets accepted into our range from raw materials with correct certifications to the safe plant based ingredients we use in our dissolvable cleaning tablets.
This is really where the danger to personal health lies, in addition to harm to the planet, so we cannot and will not compromise in this space.
I guess all in all, we’re super lucky to be working with products that make us happy when we look at them, while we also feel we’re helping families like ourselves to make a little change and be better than yesterday.
Could you describe your process for selecting furniture and decor items for a room?
My home is my place of peace (not taking into account 3 noisy boys) – or at least visual piece.
I like open spaces, simplicity and most of all I love surrounding myself with quality materials. I’d rather have less, but have it be something I truly love, than surrounding myself with items of the latest interior trends, or worse, unnecessary knick knacks. I prefer if what I have on my shelves serve a purpose, so I probably don’t have as many travel memorabilia on display as other people, or kids latest artprojects.
I do love family pictures and personal art. For example we have a series of cows doing yoga, which has a bit of a story behind it, and also three stunning paintings I commissioned from a very talented New Zealand painter, about my life. I chose three so each of my children could have one each in time.
With a simple open space that is my preference, my Danish background urges me to create family areas of “hygge”. This is a Danish concept and directly translated means “cozyness”, but it’s so much more than that if you ask me. It’s the essential framework for creating a safe and comfortable space to create family moments. A space where, when you see it, you just want to be in, play board games or enjoy a cup of tea with a book. In Denmark we have so many months of dark grey weather, so the inside just needs to inspire you, when the outside is so depressing.
So my choice of interior items usually has “hygge” in mind. This also means I have way more candle light holders in all shapes and sizes around the house than a person should. But come winter, I just need candles on the table for breakfast and dinner, and also around the living areas to really brighten up the corners.
The candlelight holders become little pieces of art placed around the house too. At the moment I have an obsession with Copenhagen Reflections (https://reflections-copenhagen.com/en-dk ) to give an example, but also go for the all classic styles from Danish Georg Jensen.
My choice of furniture comes from a place of simplicity too. I do love comfortability as well, but I could probably never go for a big practical TV couch for example.
When having more subtle colours around the house, I add colour with my rugs – I have a lot of these and love my rugs in wool and beautiful colours. We’re lucky to have so many amazing woollen products to choose from here in Australia and New Zealand. Wool is also a bit of an obsession of mine – especially merino wool which I only discovered when moving “down under”. So anything merino goes in my house.
My final choice of interiors and probably one of my favourites are my books. I love books and reading and I have a massive bookshelf in my living room. I love when visiting people to check out their books, as it tells you a lot about a person, and it shows personality too. I always find it odd if I see no books, as they’re such a big part of my own life.
What 3 trends are you seeing in 2024 that really appeal to you?
-
My personal favourite at the moment is furniture made from masur wood. I like how it creates just a little bit of noise, in the right way, with its pattern that is so lively and personal.
-
Black and White Stripes! …the Zebra is also back! I love classic stripes, anywhere! I’m loving this trend and the monochrome patterns to spice up my interiors
-
And finally, my absolute favourite …This one, on the surface, goes against all my Scandi upbringing with minimalism… the trend is Maximalism. It’s a trend I’ve seen in authentic Copenhagen-chic apartments, where no one is trying to hide the fact that people actually live in this space
With an increasing amount of brands surfacing, with a philosophy of creating aesthetically beautiful every day products, such as cleaning products just like ours, skin care and other practical elements, whose packaging and design is so aesthetically pleasing that you no longer need to hide them away – they are increasingly a part of your interiors and a witness of life and everyday routines in your home.
I love interior design and am so inspired by Danish design, I’ve listed some of my favourite trends for 2024 that I’m seeing in Copenhagen…read more about them here
